Intro to Astanga Yoga

An introduction to the dynamic form of Yoga that is Astanga. This 3 hour workshop will give a thorough foundation from which to attend Astanga Yoga classes and build a safe, strong and effective practice. Emphasis will be on correct technique, to ensure a feeling of confidence in the practice without injury.

Astanga Yoga Primary Series weekend intensive

For those already practicing Astanga Yoga, this is the chance to deepen your practice and your knowledge of Astanga Yoga. Weekend will consist of a morning Full Led Primary Class, followed by an afternoon techniques session looking at the postures individually and how they fit together to create this amazing practice, followed by a Pranayama & Meditation Session.

Intro to 2nd Series Astanga

For students of Astanga Yoga, who would like to move forward into the 2nd Series of Astanga Yoga. Traditionally, a teacher who deemed the student ready to move forward added Postures onto an existing practice. This workshop gives a sneak preview and chance to practice these postures in a safe and effective environment, with modifications and adjustments to help make 2nd series more accessible. This one day workshop includes Led Class in Morning, followed by techniques session in the afternoon.

Chakra Balancing Workshop

A 3 hour workshop which introduces the principles of The Chakra’s, how they are formed, what they are, and how we can affect them, and they us. Followed by a Yoga Sequence and Meditation Session, which aims to promote balance throughout the Chakra’s and the whole body.

Yoga Techniques workshops – Hip Openers, Balance and Inversions, Improving Back-bends, Shoulder Openers

A series of 3 hour workshops which include a Yoga Practice and techniques sessions designed to make some of the more challenging postures more accessible through a number of tried and tested methods. Suitable for students of all styles of Yoga wanting to improve their Yoga practice in a safe and effective manner.

Intro to Ayurveda

A 3 hour workshop which goes through the theoretical principles of Ayurveda, and puts them into practical terms through a series of techniques and Yoga Practice. Great for anyone interested in learning about this ancient sister science to Yoga, and having another way of looking at improving our overall health.

Intro to Pranayama & Meditation

A 2 hour workshop which introduces the fundamental principles of Pranayama (Breath Control) and Meditation. Suitable for Beginners, this is a great way to find out more about a number of techniques, which can help combat stress and create a sense of calm and inner peace.

Partner Yoga

An innovative way of looking at Yoga Postures from a different perspective. See how using another persons body can help you develop more awareness of your own body, and how each posture can feel different with a little help from a friend! There is no need to bring a partner, one can be found on the day. 3 hour workshop.

Developing your own self practice

Using a number of styles of Yoga for influence, we will look at how the body moves and look at individual bodies and their needs. We will explore a variety of ways we can create a Yoga Practice which you can maintain for yourself and modify to suit you. 3 hour workshop

Introduction to Vinyasa Flow Yoga

This workshop is aimed at those who are either new to Yoga or existing students who are new to the concept of a flowing form of Yoga. Through the workshop you will be guided through a variety of Yoga Asana’s linking the movement & breath into a natural and graceful practice. With lots ofmodifications offered, this workshop is accessible for anyone, with emphasis on exploration of the body’s natural arc of movement and correct alignment, this assures that everyone can get the most of a safe and affective Yoga Practice for years to come. 3 hour workshop.

Vinyasa Flow weekend Intensive

A whole weekend exploring movement with the breath, linking postures and exploring awareness of the body through a variety of Vinyasa flow Sequences. There will be the opportunity to experience freedom in the body and the mind, as we go through numerous approaches to Yoga and Movement. Morning Vinyasa Flow Led Class, followed by Afternoon Technique and Exploration Sessions. Try to find the You in your Yoga.

Introduction to Indian Head Massage Workshop

This workshop will teach you a variety of massage techniques which are used in Indian Head Massage, with thorough explanation and lots of practical hands on work, this workshop will leave you feeling confident in giving a good massage to friends and family. This is also a useful workshop for existing therapists, wanting to learn new techniques and skills. 3 hour workshop.

Introduction to Ayurvedic Oil Massage (Abhyangha) Workshop

Learn how to give a relaxing and effective massage to friends and family. this massage uses oil and rhythmical repetitive strokes which are easily learned, to give the receiver a number of benefits. This workshop is in 3 parts – Back Massage, Leg Massage, Torso/shoulder/neck & face Massage, which can be taken individually or combined to allow you to give a full body massage. This is not a professional qualification, however qualified therapists can gain a number of techniques and skills.

Yoga Therapy Series

A look at various ailments and disorders from a number of Holistic and Allopathic viewpoints, such as Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Energy Systems, Traditional Remedies, and so on, to find a balanced way of dealing with a number of complaints. Each workshop looks at the individual complaints in a variety of ways, and offers techniques to help cope with or ease the symptoms and causes of the ailment, giving the tools to combat the disorder in a natural and balanced way. Each 3 hour workshop includes a manual.

A typical day could run as follows-
10am – 11:30am - Vinyasa / Astanga/ Hatha Yoga Class Brunch
12noon – 3pm – Workshop of choice
30 minute break
3:30pm- 5pm - Restorative Yoga /Pranayama and Meditation class

These Yoga days are totally flexible, and can be mixed and matched in any number of ways, so if you want to do a combination of workshops this is possible.

Modifying Yoga Asana’s with Props

A practical based workshop which will give teachers a lot more scope to modify Yoga Postures to suit every individual, either to increase the intensity, to support the body so it can relax more deeply, or to make a challenging posture attainable to those who are less flexible. With years of experience working with bodies in a number of Yoga disciplines, as well as from a sports, Fitness and Therapists perspective, Nathan has an innate knowledge of how to find a way for Yoga Postures to be safe and effective for every individual. This workshop also provides insightful advice on how to make the most out of the Yoga props that we often use but not to their fullest capacity. So if you want a workshop, which will teach you to look at Yoga from a number of perspectives, with an open mind and to gain a wealth of new ideas for your mixed and general level classes, this is the workshop for you.

Teaching Restorative Yoga

A Workshop which is all about letting go. With more and more stress from hectic daily lifestyles, which are running at full speed in a number of directions all at once, most people have lost the ability to be still. This workshop is about using gentle, restorative movements and postures to give the body a chance to re-discover itself. Giving the body a chance to relax, and observe how the body feels and reacts, rather than impose our will on the body. Teachers will learn a variety of ways to use bolsters, cushions and the body’s own weight to surrender and yield the tensions and stresses of the body in a safe and effective way.

Adjustment Clinic

Yoga Adjustments are predominantly found in Astanga Yoga as a way of teaching Kinaesthetically how to achieve correct alignment. However Adjustments can also be of great benefit to may style of Yoga, as an extra tool for teaching and encouraging students to find their way into yoga Postures safely and effectively, while creating muscle memory to help them achieve the postures on their own. Adjustments can also be effective for correctional use for those students who just cannot comprehend what you are trying to communicate, helping to prevent potentially dangerous approaches to a Yoga Practice. All Adjustments taught are designed to assist a student, not force them, with painstaking research done to ensure the safety of these adjustments as well as their effectiveness. With many years experience and an innate talent for body reading within the Yoga Postures, Nathan has combined this with research with a number of accredited body workers, Yoga Teachers and Samballa Yoga Physiotherapist to design a thorough and effective system of integrating Yoga Adjustments into any style of Yoga Class.

Teaching Chair Based Yoga Classes

Chair based classes’ give each teacher the opportunity to reach certain populations that wouldn’t be able to get to a regular Yoga Class. There are a number of scenarios where Chair Based Yoga can be utilised – from working with Office Staff and Drivers, to working with the Elderly or Infirm, Wheelchair bound individuals and so on.
This is a huge market with a great deal of diversity, which is only limited by a teachers imagination or inability to adapt the teachings of Yoga off of a sticky mat!
This workshop will give a wealth of ideas to form a variety of combinations that can be used in a Chair Based Class. So if you are looking at working with in the Corporate sector, or within the community offering classes to every individual, not just the ones who can contort the body into the shapes we often call Yoga, then this workshop will offer you the chance to do just that. Teaching Partner Yoga

A fun and functional approach to Yoga, which will give teachers and their students a completely different way of looking at how their body moves, feels and works with the resistance, support and assistance of another living body. This course aims to give teachers something else to spice up classes, and to provide you with new ideas about how to challenge the body, and to gain a new appreciation and awareness of the body in Yoga.

A workshop which gives seasoned and experienced Yoga Teachers the chance to push the boundaries and improve their teaching skills in a variety of ways. From working on Verbal communication clarity, Teaching styles, How to demonstrate well, Observation skills, and much more. This Workshop will give Existing Teachers the opportunity to develop their existing skills, while learning new ones, in an environment of experienced teachers all dedicated to providing excellence in their teaching. Throughout the workshop we will look at our individual strengths and weaknesses, and how we can fine tune our skills, enhancing our natural abilities, and improving or overcoming our difficulties
